Artist statement

Art is a form of expression showing that simple things can be given a meaning. Every artist is different and tries to say different things with their art. Landscape is a wonderful way of expressing how you view the world and what you see. My name is Lacey Fuse, I am an artist from a small town in Wisconsin. I use acrylic and watercolor to express my views of the world. My art consists of bright and colorful paints. I consider myself on the fine line between realism and imagination. My art brings a sense of comfort and a type of nostalgia. I love painting light and using expressive brushstrokes to bring a fun light heartedness to my art.

My art is inspired by impressionism and realism artists. One famous painter I often draw inspiration from is Edward Hopper. Although my art looks different from a fine art realist painter I draw inspiration from his way of telling a story. I always try to lead with that storytelling idea when starting a painting. My impressionistic style comes from Monet. I love his way of using bright colors and loose brushstrokes. In a way both of these artists tell a story through art and that's what I want to be known for. My art is unique because it's my way of storytelling, it's the world through my eyes.

Born in rural Ladysmith, WI, Lacey found her passion in painting the natural beauty of the world around her. Lacey honed her skills in the fine arts department at Utah Tech University, during which time she received numerous awards and nominations. Her work has been featured in The Southern Quill, Route 7 Review, and a number of art shows across multiple disciplines.
